June 5 marked World Environment Day calling for collective action to tackle plastic pollution. The day represents the primary United Nations outreach day supporting the environment. Joining hands with children across the world, the Sunshine Charity’s Preschool children contributed to the initiative by raising awareness on the Trincomalee beach to #BeatPlasticPollution. Supported by the staff and parents, children picked up the scattered plastic, learning the importance of protecting the environment. Acting as agents of change, the children show-cased the need to cut back on the single-use plastic to Trincomalee’s beach goers, passersbys and onlookers.
