Who we are
Sharadha de
Saram
After completing her film studies at The Berlin
Film Academy, Germany, Sharadha worked as Film
Editor with Sender Freies Berlin (Radio Berlin
Brandenburg) the national
TV station of Berlin, and later with The Social
Development Commission and the Agency for Public
Information, Government of Jamaica, West Indies.
With the introduction of television to Sri Lanka Sharadha returned home to head the Current
Affairs Division of the State Television
Station, Rupavahini.
Sharadha de Saram has scripted and directed
numerous documentaries on development issues for
both Government and Non-Government
Organizations. She later, moved onto focusing on
children’s issues when she worked as Media
Consultant with UNICEF, Sri Lanka. Her interest
in children led to her writing the book. ‘One
Country & One People’ an illustrated story book
for children.
It was her continuing interest in issues related
to women & children that she, along with another
family, set up a family charity The Sunshine
Charity, in Sambalthiviu, Trincomalee, with the
aim of providing both short-term and long-term
support to children.
In 1989, she was awarded the Zonta Club of Sri
Lanka’s Woman of Achievement Award – The Arthur
C. Clark Award for Television Direction and
Production.
Sharadha de Saram serves as Member of the
National Board of Habitat for Humanity, Sri
Lanka and is the Post-Tsunami Consultant in Sri
Lanka for Give2Asia, established by The Asia
Foundation to promote philanthropy to Asia. In
2008, she was appointed Project Director of the
U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation
which will preserve the documentary film
heritage of Sri Lanka.
She is a Communications Specialist by profession
and works as an independent TV script writer.
Sharadha is a former student of Bishop’s
College, Colombo.
Tesalia de Saram was born and raised in Sri Lanka, later moving to Massachusetts, USA to complete her schooling at Northfield Mount Hermon school. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and French from Middlebury College, Vermont, and spent one year during her undergraduate degree studying Economics at La Sorbonne University in Paris, France. While at university, Tesalia belonged to the Middlebury College Orchestra playing the cello, and upon graduation has volunteered her time to working with the Admissions and Alumni offices of her college.
Tesalia currently works at Deutsche Bank in New York.
Kamini Mukunthan is a former student of Bishop’s
College, Colombo. After leaving College Kamini
joined Air Ceylon as a Stewardess and was
absorbed later to Air Lanka when she was
designated Chief Stewardess. She joined the
garment buying house, Banaras as a Merchandiser
and later worked as the Country Manager of
British VAT. Kamini joined the Wijeya Newspaper
Marketing Team and went on to be the Events
Manager of the same group, an appointment she
holds up to now.
Kamini’s interest in charitable work paved the
way to joining Lion’s Club International. Since
1998, she has been a Cabinet Officer serving as
International Youth Chairperson and the
International Club Twinning and International
Youth Exchange Chairperson in the Lion’s
District 306C2 Sri Lanka.
Kamini serves as a member of the Bishop’s
College Past Pupils Association, and the BC
Auditorium Committee.
Born and raised in Sri Lanka, Ishviyan studied
at the Colombo International School and later at
the British School in Colombo. Upon completion
of his “O” levels, he left to the United States
to pursue his final 3 years of high school at
Northfield Mount Hermon School, Massachusetts,
USA. Upon graduating, Ishviyan attended Rollins
College, Florida, USA, where he majored in
Economics and minored in Political Science. In
addition, he was a 4-year member of the
college’s varsity swimming team.
During the summers of his 4-year college career,
he interned at the Institute of Policy Studies
in Colombo, Sri Lanka, as well as Kotak Mahindra
Bank in Bangalore, India. He also pursued an
intensive summer Spanish language course in
Salamanca, Spain and later at Middlebury
College, Vermont, USA. Keen to join the world of
finance and banking, Ishviyan joined the Wealth
Management division of UBS bank in New York
City.
Ishviyan’s interest in getting involved with
community service in his home country helped
him, along with another family and his own, to
found the Sunshine Charity.
Roshan Peries is the Regional Manager of
Corporate Social Responsibility Services East
Asia for the Consumer Testing Services of the
Swiss based organization, SGS LANKA (PVT) LTD.
Her responsibilities include, managing and
developing inspections for CSR businesses,
textiles, toys, and food testing laboratories.
Also developing and implementation of the
marketing plan / budgets for the division,
building image for Sri Lanka in the
international buyer communities to enhance
business and representing Sri Lanka in sales
promotions held by SGS group and in other
chambers/trade development activities to promote
business and building and maintaining
public/customer relationships.
Roshan did her undergraduate studies at the
University of Houstan, Texas, USA graduating
with a BA in Management. She also has an MBA in
Management/ Marketing from the University of
Colombo, Sri Lanka. She serves as Member of the
National Board of Habitat for Humanity, Sri
Lanka and as a Member of the Lanka Prison
Fellowship – visiting prisons and working with
Prisoners. Roshan is a former student of Ladies’
College, Colombo.
