Psycho-social support programmes & workshops.
The interactive workshops have proved to help children to regain some aspect of their lost childhood. Workshops already facilitated have included puppetry making, paper-Mache workshop, drama and dance prgorammes, art workshop, and disaster preparedness & response workshop.
►Estimated cost: per three-day workshop USD 3,025
(Sri Lankan Rs. 345,000).

Providing one set of uniforms for 35 sunshine children, both girls & boys using 2 ½ yards of fabric inclusive of sewing charges @ Rs. 250/- per child x 35 children.
►Estimated cost for uniforms: USD 77 (Sri Lankan Rs. 8,750).

More book shelves for Sunshine Library.
The day care centre has been provided with beautiful interactive books under the Asia Foundation’s Books for Asia Programme. The shelving is to allow the children easy access to the books.
►Estimated cost: USD 1,973 (Sri Lankan Rs. 225,000/-).

Many families living particularly in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka continue to live below poverty lines. The protracted civil war and the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami have imposed them to live in temporary shelter, which, in the mean time have become their permanent homes. In addition to the lack of housing, the lack of basic health care, nutrition and clean water have made these families vulnerable and helpless. The rising cost of living has not afforded them the basic necessities. All this have contributed to children living in villages like Sambalthivu, Trincomalee District in the Eastern Province not being helped to regain their lost childhood.

With the recent fighting, more children have got displaced. Facing up to these growing challenges, the Sunshine Charity has created a Greatest Needs Fund which will support the most urgently needed projects for the children. We invite you to make a lasting impact on the children, their families and communities living in Trincomalee District, Eastern Province of Sri Lanka by contributing to these funds.
